Wondrous Creativity: Pencil & Paint BrushAges 3-5 and 6-12 years oldAt our amazing studio we offer all our students the opportunity to explore their creative side, whilst not forgetting to have some fun! Our lessons include drawing, sketching, painting and collage techniques. The mediums used vary from led pencils, crayons, pastels, watercolour pencils and acrylic and watercolour paints (not to mention an overabundance of mixed media). We mix and match techniques and media to ensure our classes are never dull. We will sketch, draw, paint and create anything from beautiful landscapes, to interesting still life, cute and funny creatures and even some good-natured monsters. All of these unique and marvelous creations are displayed in our annual end of school year exhibition, alongside the studio’s Production. We like to invite students, parents and friends (and pets) to come and enjoy the imagination and skill of our kids – having your own personal exhibition really showcases the terrific accomplishments and the hard work. Our aim is also to inspire and educate our students by introducing them to the works of famous and fascinating artists, both Australian and from around the world. Presentations with interesting facts about the life and work of these artists comprise a section of some of the lessons. Alongside this, our studio organises regular excursions to various museums and galleries, where we get to explore, discuss and of course snack together. We then use the time after the excursion to absorb what has impressed and inspired us the most and go on to create even more tremendous works of art. Our students are also invited to participate in the annual Young Archies competition at the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW). Several lessons are dedicated to research, sketching and creating of our students submissions, which we lodge together as a school – needless to say our works have been commended and acknowledged by the AGNSW. Our time together is filled with art, conversations, discussions but most of all LAUGHTER – after all: ART loves fun and fun loves ART (and kids!)
